Mother Karen's was a snow apparel brand based out of Salt Lake City in 1973. Renee Sessions (Winterstick Co-Founder) was friends with one of the company owners and was supplied with a variety of jackets, vests, pants, and snowsuits to outfit the Winterstick crew.
The flyer above was from the 1977 Las Vegas SCA Ski industry show for potential distributors and retailers. Plans for multiple size offerings of each board were shown, but most likely due to low interest, the official production would have to be streamlined to just the two models and sizes.
Though plans were cut short for the other offerings. Dimitrije did make at least one Roundtail Kidz 125cm version for Skylere Bingham, the son of Joel Bingham of Bingham Cyclery - Winterstick's first key distributor in Utah.
We've yet to unconver any of the Burgundy Roundtails (140cm, 155cm) or smaller Blue Swallowtails (145cm) - the search continues!
We're always trying to uncover more history behind the brand, be it old boards, softgoods, or print media. Let us know if you think you have something unique and we'll do our best to share what we know about it. Even better if it's something we've never seen before!
